Mini 10Doh - Extra Life Blind Box Series

Squid Kids Ink recently announced the Mini 10Doh! Extra Life Series. These will premier at SDCC 2018. And will most likely hit retailers shortly afterwards. We will keep you posted.

Featured here is the I Heart version that leaves room for lots of customization to fit any City, Person or Social Movement you can think of. It's not a straight DIY, but the interactive/customization feature of this version is pretty cool.

FREENY'S SPONGEBOB DISSECTIBLES

The Spongebob - FREENY'S Hidden Dissectibles mini series is the first blind box mini series of toys form the Artist Jason Freeny. An expert in Anatomical Art, these deconstructed cartoon characters are impressive as hell for what are 4 inch figures at most. We are impressed.

And yes we had to consider whether or not to cover this corporate licensed project or not. The question, "Is this a Designer Toy?" comes up. We immediately said "YES!" to that question.

There is one single unbreakable rule about Designer Toys. It must have an Artists name on the box. And the FREENY name/logo is on the box in the product title. All other possible guidelines such as 'original art' or 'limited edition' are grey areas. Artist Name is never optional.

These are Designer Toys.

Good work Jason, we are proud of you!

These are available online only, and there is a special full case option that includes all the rare figures and a Bonus Glow in the Dark SpongeBob!

Crappy Cat - Blind Box Figures - by VanBeater

Oh VanBeater, where are you now?

A bit of a Warehouse Find here: Crappy Cat - Blind Box Figures, and only 12 out of a case of 24 remain. We will not be 'Open Boxing' these at all. Play the game or good hunting on eBay.

A real throw back to 5-10 years back when independently produced Blind Box toys were still a thing. Blind Box Toys, as far as Independent Creatives are concerned are a completely dead market. There are next to none of these sort of releases available to any retailers. Aside from the few sporadic Artist centric Dunny Cases dropped by KidRobot these days.

And who can blame the producers? The tooling and paint pads for a Blind Box assortment means that production costs can run around $75K for a basic run of toys that many online retailers and flippers are going to crack open and identify anyway. So why bother?

Discordia Culture Shop never 'Open Boxes' product.
